More Great News for First Robotics
Another great day at HCC and for First Robotics. Team 343 Robotics at Hamilton Career Center received a donation of $6,000 from Schneider Electric (Square D) on this past Thursday night. Larry Smith (plant manager) released the funds and the check was brought to our meeting by a mentor from their plant, one of the leaders of our First Robotics team, Mark Jones. The picture below is of Mark giving the check to one of our Career Center Students and a new member of Team 343, Rachael Addis. Rachael is a Senior at Walhalla High School and plans on attending Clemson University for Mechanical Engineering and then pursuing a Masters in Automotive Engineering. I think that it is appropriate to have her receiving the funds because it brings to light the purpose of the robotics program. Rachael will lead the drawing team this year for team 343 and thanks to the donations (like the one from Schneider Electric) of not only money, but time, Rachael will be able to work hand in hand with Engineers from our area. She will be able to learn more about the jobs of many of these engineers, see how their work is completed, build relationships with industry, get a great deal of real world experience, and more. Hamilton Career Center would like to personally thank Schneider Electric and all of our contributors and mentors for what they are doing for the young people of our county. If anyone is interested in getting involved as a student member, instructor, mentor, or would like to make a donation please contact Justin Robinson at 886-4400 ext 5844 or by email at jrobinson@oconee.k12.sc.us.
Great news, a donation was made to the robotics team on Thursday November 11th for $6,000 from Gene Falendysz who works at Itron. This is a very big deal for the robot team this year especially because of budget short falls and the lack of grant money available this year. Along with the donations Itron also have several engineers that work and volunteer their time as mentors for this team. The robotics team is planning on competing for the first time this year March 24th-26th in Charleston at the First Robotics Palmetto Regional. If anyone is interested in getting involved as a student member, instructor, mentor, or would like to make a donation please contact Justin Robinson at 886-4400 ext 5844 or by email at jrobinson@oconee.k12.sc.us.
